Use your current legal name, including middle names if they appear on formal ID or legal documents.
Marriage or civil union: A later marriage or civil union generally revokes an existing will unless the will was made in contemplation of that particular marriage or civil union. Obtain legal advice and make a new will before or immediately after a change of this kind.
De facto relationship: A de facto relationship does not revoke an earlier will — only marriage or civil union does — but it may still create claims against your estate. Use the status that honestly describes your current relationship and get legal advice if there may be disagreement.
Separated, divorced, or widowed: You remain legally married until a divorce order takes effect, and divorce or the death of a spouse does not revoke a will. If your status has changed, review your will and get legal advice.
